Default Diff Ratios

Hi,

Due to race at Brands, full circuit for first time MGB GT standard engine, has anyone any idea of best diff ratio. I have a choice of 3.9 diff or 4.2 .

Thanks Paul

on the indy track that we use i used a 3.9 diff but i have never used the full track the only thing you can do is to try it and if its not good change the diff when you are there..

regards
paul

Default my brother

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum...

I dont drive an mgb or midget, but my brother does....

he raced at brands hatch, got lap record and won i think and he used a 3.9 diff...

he used a 4.2 diff at oulton park ful circuit, and he still won, so to be honest it doesnt make that much difference, he even used a 3.9 diff at snetterton and thruxton and still won there...4.2 gives you more top end, but if you just stick with a 3.9 you will be fine...

give my brother a call on 07702 644 204 if you get stuck..his name is Will.

Default Diff Ratios

Hi,

Use a 4.1 for Brands Indy, 3.9 for GP circuit.

Mainly used a 4.1 all all circuts.
If you've got overdrive then keep it in for all, otherwise use a 3.9 for longer circuits (Snett, Thruxton)
I used to use a 4.3 but only for Lydden hill.

Good luck

Cheers, Trev
